WHO WE ARE

E3 Eco Group is growing, and we are looking for a smart, keen learner to join our team and help us carry out our day-to-day operations as a HOT2000 Energy Modeller. E3 is an industry leader in green building programs such as Step Code, LEED and Built Green. While it isn’t strictly necessary that you know all these programs inside and out, we are seeking someone who is sustainably-minded and has experience coordinating and completing energy models specific to new construction. Not sure if you have the right experience? Don’t worry, we provide some of the best in-house training and coaching to compliment your existing skills and knowledge.

WHO YOU ARE

At E3, Energy Modellers are a vital part of our business, supporting the delivery of industry-best project work that E3 is well known for. Energy Modellers offer support to Project Managers working on multiple projects, to ensure that models are effectively completed on budget, on time, and per quality and certification expectations. On top of this, Energy Modellers at E3 are great team players – always working well with their team and stakeholders. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the typical Energy Modeller duties:

  • Answers all stakeholder (internal and external) phone calls, emails, voicemails, or other methods of communication in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures that energy modelling procedures are accurately followed.
  • Completes energy models as per program requirements.
  • Provide upgrade recommendations to Clients.
  • Aware of multiple project timelines and prioritizing workload to ensure deadlines are met.

At E3, we are looking for the right person for our Energy Modeller role and this person has a few key personal attributes – is this you? First, you can manage tight deadlines while ensuring a high attention to detail – allowing you to ensure all stakeholders get what they need, when they need it. Second, you are proficient with energy modelling standards and software, as well as the BC Building Code and construction plans, allowing you to see and recommend practical solutions, deliver intelligent fixes and identify projects risks. Lastly, you have excellent communication skills, working well with a team of project managers, coordinators, field technicians, and external stakeholders – ensuring models are meeting requirements on budget, time and per quality and certification expectations.

Still Reading? Great! Here’s some of the minimum qualifications we are looking for:

  • Certified Energy Advisor training (completed or in-process through CHBA BC preferred).
  • Required to be trained and/or certified in at least one of the following modelling disciplines: EnerGuide for New Homes (EnergyStar, R2000, NetZero), EnerGuide for Existing Homes, EnerGuide for Multi-Unit Residential Buildings, BC Energy Step Code.
  • Training and/or certification in the following modelling disciplines would be an asset: Passive House, Life-Cycle Analysis, eQUEST, IES, COMcheck, Energy Plus, etc.
  • Post-Secondary education in engineering, architecture or building science preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in an Energy Modelling position preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the sustainability/green construction industry preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving abstract, and access to a vehicle for visiting project sites.
  • Must speak, read and write English expertly.
