Step Code

The BC Energy Step Code is a Provincial Building Code put in place to keep raising the level of energy efficiency of homes built in BC until all homes built in the Province are NetZero Ready by 2032.

E3 has been on the forefront of development and implementation of the BC Energy Step Code. E3 has provided energy modeling research for the Province of BC’s Costing Study, so we learned early on what the most cost-effective building solutions are. E3 continues to be up to date regarding upcoming procedures and legislation regarding updates to the BC Energy Step Code before the general public.

  • HOT2000 Energy Modeling: Experience ranging from Single Family to Townhomes for BC Energy Step Code Levels 1 – 5

  • HOT2000 Energy Modeling of multi-unit apartment buildings: Experience with modelling MURBs for BC Energy Step Code Levels 1 – 5

  • HOT2000 Energy Modeling for the Province of BC’s Step Code Metrics Research Report

  • Member of the BC Energy Step Code Council Technical Committee: Completed and presented vital research regarding the air tightness testing protocol of Townhomes.

  • Builder Training on Step Code Metrics: Trained by BC Housing to conduct training seminars for Builders regarding the new Step Code metrics.
